Who we are
Learnvoro runs learnvoro.xyz, a free library of online courses written, illustrated and narrated with AI. In this policy, “Learnvoro”, “we” and “us” mean the team that runs the site, and “you” means anyone who uses it.
We decide how and why the personal data described here is used. Write to us at support@learnvoro.xyz, or use the contact form, about anything in this policy.
What we collect
When you read courses without an account
You can read every course without an account. We don’t ask for anything. Your browser keeps your place in the courses you read, the sidebar’s state, the notices you dismissed and, if you choose one, your language, on your own device (see Cookies and browser storage).
Your account
You can sign in with your Google account or with an email address and password. Sign-in is handled by Google’s Firebase Authentication, which gives us your account ID, your email address, whether it’s verified, and your name. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to an hour at a time.
Your learning
When you’re signed in, we keep the courses you enroll in and the steps of each one you’ve viewed, so you can continue on any device, and the ratings you give courses. For courses in the original starter collection, we also keep the lessons you’ve completed, your assignment responses, your study plan and your best quiz score.
Creating courses
If you request creator access, we keep your email address, what you tell us about how you plan to use course generation, the request’s status, and which administrator reviewed it. Administrators see your request so that they can review it.
If you create a course, we keep the topic, audience and choices you enter, a record that you created it, and how many courses you started each day, to apply daily limits. Finished courses are published for everyone to read. Please don’t include personal or confidential information in a course’s topic or audience description.
Messages you send us
When you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message, by email, and use them to reply.
How the site is used, and advertising
The site uses Google Analytics to understand how it’s used, and Google AdSense to show ads that keep it free. Through them, Google receives information such as the pages you visit, your browser and device, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and can set cookies. See Analytics and advertising for how consent works.
Technical data
Like any website, our hosting providers process your IP address and details of each request to deliver pages and keep the site secure. For example, we limit how many messages one address can send through the contact form.
How we use it, and why we may
- To run the site and your account: sign-in, saving your progress and ratings, reviewing creator requests and generating the courses you ask for. We need this to provide what you asked for.
- To answer you, when you write to us. This is in our legitimate interest, and yours.
- To keep the site secure and working, and to prevent abuse, such as by applying generation limits. This is in our legitimate interest.
- To understand how the site is used and to show ads, through Google Analytics and AdSense. Where the law requires it, including in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we do this only with your consent.
- To meet legal obligations, where they apply.
Analytics and advertising
Google Analytics and Google AdSense run on every page, with Google Consent Mode.
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies stay off until you accept them in Google’s consent message. Until then, Google may receive cookieless signals without identifiers, and only non-personalised ads can be shown. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy and cookie settings link that Google’s message leaves on the page.
- Elsewhere, measurement and ads, including personalised ads, are on by default. You can turn off personalised ads in Google’s ad settings, and stop Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out add-on.
We ask Google to redact advertising identifiers where consent is denied. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained in Google’s policy.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the providers’ own data protection terms.
How long we keep it
- Your account’s learning data and ratings: for as long as you have an account, until you ask us to delete them.
- Creator access requests: for as long as they matter to your creator access, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Contact messages: for as long as we need them to deal with what you asked.
- Published courses stay public. Records of who created a course are kept with it.
- Analytics data: for the retention period set in Google Analytics.
- The sign-in cookie lasts up to an hour, and the language cookie a year. Browser storage stays until you clear it.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To use any of these rights, write to support@learnvoro.xyz from the email address of your account, so that we can confirm it’s you. We’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we handled your data, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Learnvoro is a general-audience site and isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to support@learnvoro.xyz and we’ll delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Sign-in uses a short-lived, secure cookie that scripts can’t read, and access to stored data is limited to the services and administrators that need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us at support@learnvoro.xyz if you find a problem.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll make it clear on the site.
